Bridging the Gap Between Education and Industry



Last week, we had the privilege of hosting over 100 QUT (Engineering, Architecture and Built Environment) Introduction to Construction Management students for their very first onsite experience!



The students visited two of our iconic projects – Waterfront Brisbane and Mater Hospital Springfield, where they had the opportunity to immerse themselves in the real-world construction environment.



At each site, they were given a comprehensive project overview and guided tours, offering an up-close look at the exciting work our teams are delivering. Their enthusiasm was contagious, with plenty of insightful questions that highlighted their passion and curiosity for all things construction.



With four years of study ahead, we can’t wait to see some of these bright minds returning as Graduate applicants in 2029!



We’re proud to support the next generation of construction professionals and help them kickstart their journey into the industry.

🐰 How does the Easter Bunny cross the railway line at Webster Street?

With the help from our North Western Program Alliance team that's working on removing the level crossing and building a new road underpass for the @levelcrossings removal project of course!

Members of the team helped spread the Easter cheer to local businesses while providing project updates.

Meanwhile our team at nearby Melton provided a drawcard in the local shopping centre, where residents could see how progress is being made on removing their level crossings while enjoying a chocolate treat.

Building a Healthier Future: Ballarat Base Hospital Redevelopment Stage 2 shortlisted for IPA’s Industry Choice Award.

We're thrilled to announce that our work with Victorian Building Authority and Grampians Health on the Ballarat Base Hospital Redevelopment Stage 2 has been shortlisted for the prestigious Infrastructure Partnerships Australia's National Infrastructure Awards, in the Industry Choice category.

John Holland successfully delivered the project with a strong focus on community impact and economic investment.

👥 Engaging Locally: By injecting $45M into 180 local businesses, we’ve supported the Ballarat business community and local workforce.

🌱 Social Responsibility: Over $888K was directed towards social benefit suppliers, paving the way for sustainable community growth.

🤝 Empowering Change: We've contributed to the social enterprise certification of Raven Collective and funded a trainee for the local boutique gift company, who provide comprehensive support for victim survivors of domestic violence.


The team also identified an opportunity to support Holly & Co, a fire services supply company to gain Supply Nation certification, to allow them to continue their regular donations to Berry Street in support of children in foster homes.

🙌🏽 Construction has kicked off at the redeveloped Penrith Stadium!



The @johnhollandgroup team was really pleased to welcome the NSW Premier @chrisminnsmp, NSW Deputy Premier @pruecarmp NSW Minister for Sport @stevekampermp and representatives from Infrastructure NSW, @venuesnsw, @penrithpanthers and @penrithcitycouncil to see construction get underway.



The state-of-the-art multipurpose venue will support the growth of league, union and football in Sydney's western suburbs, as well as hosting concerts and events.



The stadium will also improve accessibility for visitors, and the design and increased food and beverage options and amenities mean fans will spend less time in queues and more time taking in the action!



John Holland has decades of experience in delivering world-class sports and entertainment facilities, including Allianz Stadium in Sydney.



The Penrith Stadium project is proudly funded by the NSW Government.

🚋 We’re focused on the future of Melbourne’s iconic tram network – and we’re proud to be involved in all parts of the lifecycle.

Our team on the North Western Program Alliance is delivering the new Tram Maintenance Facility at Maidstone. This purpose-built facility will house Melbourne’s Next Generation trams.

The team is in the final stages of delivery with test trams starting to run at the new site last week. This follows the completion of 5,031m of track and associated overhead wiring installed in the new facility last month.

Once complete, the Tram Maintenance Facility will provide undercover maintenance tracks, stabling roads, an undercover stabling and sanding area, a tram wash and a test track for Melbourne’s Next Generation G Class trams. These new trams will be rolled out onto the Yarra Trams network.

In partnership with Transdev, we have been operating Yarra Trams since December last year. In that time, performance on the network (reliability and punctuality) has been stronger than the same time the previous year 📈.

While the Yarra Trams team has delivered services to some of Melbourne’s major events including the Australian Open 🎾 and the Australian Formula 1 Grand Prix 🏎️.

😮 Hey Pyrmont, look down!

Our Sydney Metro West – Eastern Tunnelling Package team threw open the doors to the Pyrmont West excavation shaft recently, allowing local residents to see the progress we're making on the future Pyrmont Metro Station.

🚧 Visitors to the project site could look down and see our team was about 23 metres into the 33-metre-deep shaft and one third of the way through excavating a total of 312,000 tonnes of material to create the station cavern and crossover cavern.

Local residents were impressed to learn that all material excavated will be reused on other Sydney projects including the M7-M12 Integration Project.

🚇 We're proud to be delivering part of Sydney Metro West, which will double rail capacity between Parramatta and the CBD and transform public transport for generations to come!

🚇 Our team leading the Rail Network Alliance for Metro Tunnel Project have celebrated a big milestone, with test trains now having travelled more than 100,000km inside the Metro Tunnel.



At the same time, our Metro Trains Melbourne JV has taken over management of the Metro Tunnel Project’s three completed stations – Parkville, Anzac and Arden.



Our Rail Network Alliance team continues with testing, which began in 2023, running trains between stations on the Sunbury, Cranbourne and Pakenham lines and through the tunnel to gather critical data. The team of experts continue to stress test the new technology to make sure all the equipment and systems are working as designed.



This work brings us one step closer to the opening of Metro Tunnel!
