The new bridge will connect communities on the north and south of the river, and will feature an innovative, long-span cast in situ balanced cantilever design. The design means the bridge will only have two piers in the river, minimising disruption to boats and other waterway users and protecting the sensitive marine environment.
The enabling works cover 1.3km, including the bridge and approaches on either side of the river.
This is the first critical stage of works for the light rail extension which, when complete, will connect communities on the Olympic Peninsula with Greater Parramatta.
The Parramatta Light Rail Stage 2 Enabling Works project is the latest in a long line of critical infrastructure delivered by John Holland in Sydney’s west. Other current projects include the M7-M12 Integration Project and the Upper South Creek Advanced Water Recycling Centre.
