Nick is one of Australasia’s most experienced infrastructure professionals, with more than 30 years’ experience, including roles as CEO of Inland Rail, Adbri, Broadspectrum and Fulton Hogan.&nbsp;As a civil engineer, he has led projects and teams across road, rail, water and utilities construction, operations and maintenance. He also brings enormous experience and understanding of the construction materials supply chain to his role at John Holland.&nbsp;Nick is renowned for his strong commercial, governance and strategic capabilities, as well as his ability to motivate and lead high-performing teams.&nbsp;A Kiwi by birth, Nick is a passionate All Blacks supporter, and in his spare time enjoys watching sport, time with his family and outdoor pursuits including skiing, hiking and mountain biking.

As the self-appointed ‘Financial Engineer’ of John Holland, Chief Financial Officer Darryn Ray is a business stalwart.Now into his fourth decade with John Holland, Darryn has been instrumental to building an exceptional culture within the business.He describes ‘caring’ as the consistent value underpinning his time here, regardless of the executive and shareholder changes over the years.While responsible for all financial and management reporting, audits, taxation, treasury, investments, corporate governance and insurances, Darryn is most proud to be part of a company at the heart of projects improving the lives of the people in the communities they’re built in.Darryn is amazed by the innovation he sees on all our worksites and likes to remind his friends and family of John Holland’s legacy whenever he gets the chance.An avid walker, cyclist and golfer, Darryn enjoys the 19th hole almost as much as the other eighteen!

With more than 30 years’ experience in the property and construction industry, David Lehmann knows the value of not only building things – but how those things transform lives and communities.&nbsp;Our Chief Operating Officer, David has strong credentials across various roles in Southeast Asia, Greater China and Australia as well as deep expertise in business strategy, leadership, operational excellence, and large-scale project delivery.He enjoys hearing repeatedly from clients and consultants of the trust imbued in the John Holland brand, driven by the culture of excellence and willingness of our teams to strive for great outcomes on every project.It’s this ability to influence positive outcomes and bring meaningful impact to marginalised sections of the community through employment, training and inclusion that makes every day about transforming lives for David.A dynamic business leader, David is equally at home out on site as he is in the Boardroom or cheering his two daughters on from the sidelines.

Sarah Elliott has notched up more than 20 years’ experience in senior roles across the energy, financial services and construction sectors.As John Holland’s Chief People Officer, Sarah likes to think she’s building the people that do the building. With this mission in mind, she brings a warmth and pragmatism to the Executive team in her passion to address key workforce challenges.Ensuring greater diversity and flexibility in the workplace, continuing professional development and addressing the attraction and retention of inspired people at John Holland is front of mind for Sarah.She believes John Holland’s ability to transform lives hinges on the expertise of its people, and has a keen focus on helping people grow and improve through an industry-leading employee experience.Sarah’s driven by supporting the day-to-day operations that are creating positive change in the construction and engineering sectors.Sarah is an avid traveller and overseas explorer, she retains her balance and energy through a regular yoga practice, reading and bushwalking with her family.

Martin is John Holland’s most seasoned negotiator. As Chief Commercial Officer, Martin Webster brings more than 35 years of international infrastructure and construction experience to the business.His technical expertise has helped drive successful outcomes on some of Australia's and Asia's largest building and infrastructure projects.Martin has a sharp commercial focus across tendering, contracts, risk management, earned value and particularly commercial project delivery – coupled with the drive to ensure the safety of the wider team is at the forefront of our decisions.Martin has a keen objective to develop talent within John Holland and see our people given opportunities to grow and maximise their potential by extending their fields of expertise.Since relocating from Hong Kong to Melbourne, Martin has embraced local sporting culture and supports various junior AFL, cricket and rugby union clubs. Martin has a passion for sports cars and vintage cars.

Chief Commercial Officer

Michael&nbsp;brings a wealth of experience to the role of Chief Engineer, having led more than 40 design and construction projects across roads, rail, tunnels, bridges, water infrastructure and hydro. He has had a 25-year career in construction and engineering, with a strong grounding in civil engineering.&nbsp;As Chief Engineer,&nbsp;Michael&nbsp;is responsible for the technical review and assurance of construction methodologies from precontracts to delivery, including proposed delivery methodology changes, and is accountable for design management.

Martin Smith is John Holland's Acting Chief Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability Officer. Martin has been with John Holland for more than seven years, in Group General Manager positions responsible for developing and implementing HSES policies to protect the lives of the people we work with and the environments we work in. Overall, Martin has spent 28 years working in Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability roles across the energy and construction sectors. &nbsp; In his spare time Martin enjoys spending time with his family, travelling and keeping fit.

Acting Chief Health, Safety, Environment and Sustainability Officer

If there was a railway gene our Executive General Manager of Rail &amp; Transport, Steve Butcher, would hold a majority stake. Growing up in the UK, where public transport was the lifeline for many communities, Steve’s father was a train driver and his grandfather a locomotive superintendent. It was only a matter of time before Steve joined the ‘family business’ and he started as a station cleaner for British Rail when he was 16 years old.Steve moved up the ladder to roles in train crew, driver management, operational safety accident investigation and Operations Director to eventually become the Chief Operating Officer/Managing Director for Northern Rail and then to a global role with Serco across Dubai, India, the USA and Australia.His passion for making a difference to people’s lives with efficient public transport is key to his role leading the expertise of the Rail &amp; Transport business unit.He loves being involved in transport projects from design phase through to talking to passengers on a train, tram or bus, and hearing how their experiences have been transformed.Outside of work, Steve is a keen walker and swimmer and loves military and railway history.

Joe has spent 28 years working in building and transport infrastructure and has extensive experience across industrial, retail, commercial, defence and government social infrastructure projects.&nbsp;As John Holland's Executive General Manager of Building and Infrastructure, Joe is focused on the entire lifecycle of building projects and resolving complex design and delivery challenges.&nbsp;Joe is a strong believer in building positive relationships with customers. Through listening and responding to customers' needs, Joe strives to be a trusted partner, find collaborative solutions and leave a positive legacy for communities.&nbsp;When not at work Joe is a passionate motorsports and soccer fan who enjoys spending time with his wife and supporting his two sons' sporting endeavours.

Andy is a construction industry leader with more than 30 years' experience&nbsp;across multiple sectors&nbsp;in Australia and the UK,&nbsp;including transport, water, and defence.As John Holland's Executive General Manager, Infrastructure, Andy is a relationship driven leader&nbsp;whose focus is working closely with customers and seeking innovative solutions and ways forward to deliver critical projects for communities.&nbsp;When not at work the self-described Leeds United Tragic can usually be found following the English football league&nbsp;or enjoying time with his family.
