We're incredibly proud to be partnering with Ausgrid to help deliver clean energy to NSW.

We’ll be building two new substations and upgrading existing distribution infrastructure in EnergyCo's Hunter-Central Coast Renewable Energy Zone (HCC REZ), and we recently joined our customer and partners to turn the first sod at the Antiene site, within sight of the former Liddell Power Station.

The new and renewed infrastructure will support future renewable energy generators to supply up to one gigawatt (GW) of clean, affordable energy into the NSW grid.

It’s a classic win-win scenario. Not only will the HCC REZ be contributing to the State’s clean energy future, it will be the first renewable energy zone in Australia to upgrade existing distribution poles and wires, minimising the impact on the community and the environment.

We’ll be bringing our decades of experience in energy and distribution to this important project - starting with the original Snowy hydro scheme in the 60’s, major transmission projects into the 2000s, and, most recently, one of the biggest pumped hydro plants in Australia at Kidston, in outback Queensland.

This International Women’s Day, we’re celebrating the women making their mark across our John Holland projects and helping reshape what our industry looks like.

Here’s a glimpse of how we’re celebrating #IWD2026:

♀️ At our Sydney office, we were honoured to host Dr Natalie Galea from the University of Sydney Business school, who spoke about the cultural shift needed to continue to ‘Balance the scales’ and shared strategies to support gender equality. The session was streamed live to our entire business.

♀️ John Holland team members joined business and community leaders at official UN Women Australia events in Sydney, Melbourne, Adelaide and Brisbane, hearing from an extraordinary line-up of leaders, legal experts, advocates and changemakers who are driving real change for women and girls.

♀️ The Construction Collective, a staff-led group championing women within the Level Crossing Removal Project’s North Western Program Alliance (NWPA), invited leadership communication expert Ally Nitschke to share her expertise on having courageous conversations.

♀️ The Illabao to Stockinbingal (I2S) team is hosting a Q&A panel this month with women from the project, local female farmers, business owners, male allies and community leaders sharing their experiences across construction and regional agriculture.

♀️ Our Queensland Train Manufacturing Program project team in Torbanlea is hosting a panel discussion where team members are sharing their personal experiences working in construction and advice on building a more inclusive, gender balanced industry.

Making a difference beyond the rail tracks!

Our team on the Next Rail Alliance, alongside Jacobs and Transport for NSW, is enhancing the T8 Airport and T4 Illawarra and Eastern Suburbs lines as part of the Rail Service Improvement Program (RSIP).

The RSIP, funded by Transport for NSW, is delivering safer, more efficient and reliable train travel while fostering meaningful connections with the local community.

Recently our project team delivered four impactful initiative:

🛠️ Prepared Ashfield’s newest women’s shelter by building furniture, painting, and packing to create a safe and welcoming space.
🤝 Supported 15 skilled immigrant job seekers with mock interviews and confidence-building feedback in partnership with Sydney East Community College.
❤️ Donated blood and plasma through Australian Red Cross Lifeblood saving 21 lives and continuing this life-saving effort.
🌳 Took part in Clean Up Australia Day, helping to preserve Sir Joseph Banks Park for the community to enjoy.

As part of the North West Hub Alliance with Sydney Water, KBR and Stantec, we’re excited to be selected to deliver the next phase of water treatment growth works in Sydney’s north-west, valued at $300 million and expected to be completed by late 2029.

Our Alliance has been awarded the second stage of works for the design, procurement, construction and commissioning phases for their North West Treatment Hub sites which includes Riverstone, Rouse Hill and Castle Hill water resource recovery facilities (WRRFs).

Scheme 2 builds on the strong progress already underway, awarded off the back of works currently in delivery at Riverstone and Rouse Hill WRRF, which are more than 50% complete.

Under Scheme 2, treatment capacity at Riverstone WRRF will double, supporting one of Sydney’s fastest growing regions. Design is already underway, with construction expected to commence in mid-2026.

Together, these works will expand treatment capacity, support future housing growth, and help keep Sydney’s waterways clean – a win-win for Australia’s largest city.

Tunnelling on Sydney Metro West is complete! 🎆

TBM Jessie has made a final smashing entrance at the future Hunter Street Station, marking the official completion of tunnelling for the Sydney Metro West alignment and a huge milestone for our tunnelling team.

Jessie’s breakthrough follows TBM Ruby, who completed her own journey in December 2025.

Each TBM carved 2.3km from The Bays to Hunter Street, powering through two harbours, shifting 230,000 tonnes of material and piecing together 8,256 concrete segments to form the twin tunnels.

Tunnelling is just one part of our Sydney Metro West journey. The Hunter Street cavern was excavated over 20 months and is an engineering marvel, stretching 180 metres long, 28 metres wide and 20 metres high. It is designed to handle up to 40,000 passengers an hour.

We’ve also excavated 1.2 kilometres of turnback tunnels, allowing trains to turn around after reaching Hunter Street and travel back toward Westmead.

To every person who worked underground to make this happen, this moment is yours!

Our John Holland PRIDE Network brought the energy and ECSTATICA delivered the moment. A celebration of glamour, grit and joy that burns brighter when we stand together.

Decked out in rainbow hi-vis, hard hats and steel cap boots, our PRIDE Network and LGBTQ+ allies joined @bldgpride in the parade to champion inclusion across the construction sector.

Transforming lives means building an industry where everyone feels safe, supported and free to be themselves. Achieving Gold Tier Employer by Pride in Diversity’s Australian Workplace Equality Index in 2025 tells us we’re getting it right.

Raising the roof at Penrith Stadium! 🏟️

We’ve hit a major milestone on the Penrith Stadium redevelopment, with our team lifting the first segments of the eastern grandstand roof into place.

We preassembled the 24-metre-long roof modules directly on the field before lifting them into position to reduce the number of elevated works and deliver a safer, faster and more precise installation.

The roof structure has also been redesigned from a truss system to welded beams with tapered edges, reducing steel tonnage and improving sustainability.

Once the roof installation is complete, the new roof will cover more than half the seats in the eastern grandstand – nearly double the coverage of the old grandstand – delivering a significantly improved match-day experience.

Construction has progressed rapidly since the first structural members were installed late last year.

All eastern grandstand seating plats are now in place, and early works on the multilevel western grandstand are underway.
