Pakenham Station’s standout architecture has been recognised with multiple major design awards:

Opened in 2024, the station’s iconic wave-like roof and elevated rail bridge have become a landmark gateway to Gippsland, with vibrant public spaces for the community.

It follows the project receiving one of the highest Infrastructure Sustainability Council’s As-Built ratings, scoring 97.98 for its commitment to sustainability through a 52.1% reduction in energy use, and 35% reduction in emissions from materials.

Delivered by our North Western Program Alliance, the project involved removing three crossings at McGregor Road, Main Street and Racecourse Road via a 3km elevated viaduct, extending the rail line 2km to East Pakenham, and construction of two new stations.

Since 2017, we’ve proudly worked alongside the Victorian Government and our Alliance partners to remove 17 level crossings, deliver new rail stations and infrastructure and create vibrant community spaces across Melbourne.

How do you reline one of Melbourne’s most important sewer mains without disrupting its operation?

You go with the flow.

We’re delighted to have been chosen by Melbourne Water to deliver a world-first solution for the rehabilitation of the Western Trunk Sewer (WTS).

We’ll be relining a 4.4km section of the existing sewer main using a technique known as slip-lining.

And while the technology itself isn’t new, no one’s ever done it with such a large diameter pipe – in this case, 4.2 metres – AND in live flow conditions.

The Western Trunk Sewer is one of Melbourne Water’s most important assets, transferring approximately 57 per cent of the city’s total annual wastewater flow.

This project adds to the diverse portfolio of work we’re currently delivering for Melbourne Water, which includes the new Resource Recovery and Re-Use Complex at the Western Treatment Plant in Werribee.

In fact, you might say we’re joining the dots because the WTS flows directly into the Werribee treatment plant.

As Australia’s leading water contractor, we’re proud to be playing our part in providing safe and reliable wastewater solutions to support Melbourne’s future growth.

Another South Auckland rail station win! 🚆

John Holland has been awarded the contract to deliver the construction of Ngākōroa Station in New Zealand for @kiwirailnz.

Ngākōroa Station will be the third station delivered as part of the Drury Rail Stations package, alongside our current works at Drury and Paerātā.

The station will feature a pedestrian over-rail bridge and two 150-metre platforms designed to accommodate six-car passenger trains.

Our team will bring experience from more than five years of working on Auckland’s Southern Line, including the Papakura to Pukekohe Rail Electrification Project, as well as our ongoing delivery of Drury and Paerātā stations.

Once completed, Ngākōroa, Drury, and Paerātā stations will transform public transport in South Auckland, making rail travel more accessible and encouraging sustainable travel for the area’s growing communities.

We’re proud to continue our partnership with KiwiRail and help shape New Zealand’s transport future!

The new @waterfrontbrisbane Riverwalk is now open! 🙌

As Principal Contractor for Dexus's Waterfront Brisbane project, we’ve transformed what was once a narrow little path along the Brisbane River into a spacious riverside promenade with plenty of room to move and some stunning feature artwork along the way.

It’s a game changer for one of Brisbane’s busiest active transport corridors. The new section is now a minimum of six metres wide, giving walkers, runners and cyclists a safer and more comfortable space to enjoy the river’s edge.

And the scale of what our team achieved to build it is incredible:

✅ 3,064 cubic metres of concrete
✅ 133 piles
✅ 108 beams
✅ 238 planks
✅ 74 skirts
✅ More than 10,000 crane lifts with 15,000 tonnes of material

Peak service mode activated ✅

The Metro Tunnel is now fully integrated into Victoria’s train system and operating on a full timetable!

With 1,200 new weekly services on the Sunbury, Cranbourne, and Pakenham lines, Melbourne’s first turn-up-and-go rail service is here - and the first peak services ran smoothly.

Cairns’ water supply is in local hands 💪

We’ve officially surpassed one million work hours on the Cairns Water Security Stage 1 (CWSS1) project, and it’s the dedication of local workers that’s helping deliver one of the region’s most significant water infrastructure projects.

Over 1,100 people have contributed to the project so far, with more than 80% of the workforce proudly made up of Cairns locals.

Beyond creating jobs, this project is investing in the local economy. More than $100 million has been spent with local businesses, including 140 suppliers and four First Nations businesses.

With over 25 kilometres of pipeline installed and major work progressing at the water treatment plant, this critical project is rapidly taking shape. As one of the largest water infrastructure projects in Cairns’ history, CWSS1 will secure the city’s future water supply and support growing demand from population growth.

We’re proud to deliver this nationally significant project for the @cairnscouncil, funded by the Australian and Queensland governments through the National Water Grid.

Beneath Melbourne’s newest road tunnel lies a hidden engineering marvel 👀

The West Gate Tunnel is the only TBM-constructed road tunnel in the country to feature a dedicated maintenance passage beneath the road deck.

This clever design houses mechanical, electrical, and infrastructure equipment, making the tunnel more efficient to build and easier to inspect and maintain over time.

From complex tunnelling and major surface works to the intricate fit-out and commissioning of mechanical, electrical and intelligent transport systems, our deep technical expertise was instrumental in bringing this transformative project to life.

Building world-class healthcare for Sydney’s children 💪

The much-anticipated Sydney Children’s Hospital Stage 1 and Minderoo Children’s Comprehensive Cancer Centre project is complete!

The 12-storey hospital and research centre building brings together essential paediatric services under one roof – including a children’s emergency department, intensive care unit, short-stay unit and specialty inpatient units.

At its heart is the largest children’s cancer centre in the southern hemisphere, a place dedicated to world-class care, research, education and training that will make a difference for generations of families.

Designed with input from a wide range of stakeholders – from children to clinicians and community – the new building features family friendly spaces, play areas and cutting edge oncology treatment and research facilities.

Constructing this new hospital building required innovative solutions and seamless collaboration to manage complex logistics, all while keeping the site live and operational.

Even with expanded scope and challenges along the way, the project was delivered on time thanks to smart planning, teamwork and a focus on what really matters – creating a space where families can find support and care when they need it most.
