Operating and maintaining Australia’s first driverless metro.

Sydney Metro Northwest – Metro Trains Sydney

After leading the design and construction of the first stage of Australia’s biggest public transport project, Sydney Metro, John Holland now operates the nation’s first driverless metro as part of the Metro Trains Sydney consortium.

The new-generation metro trains are designed to make customer journeys easy – from level access to platforms, to multi-purpose areas for prams, luggage and bicycles and real-time travel information.

The consortium manages the operations and maintenance across 13 stations from Tallawong to Chatswood in Sydney’s north and northwest. Services at the 13 stations operate every four minutes in the peak in each direction.

The fast, safe and reliable trains are required to run at 98% on-time reliability.
The network is similar to those used everyday in cities like Paris, Singapore, Dubai and Hong Kong.
