A defining moment in Perth’s cultural history.

State Theatre of Western Australia

The State Theatre Centre of Western Australia is a significant architectural feature in the heart of Northbridge providing a world-class contemporary performing arts destination for the Perth community.

The highly elaborate architectural design includes specialised theatre equipment and unique architectural finishes. The $90 million centre also features award-winning acoustic treatments to ensure isolation of noise and vibrations from the surrounding road and rail areas from performance and rehearsal spaces inside the theatre.

Located in the revitalised cultural centre of Perth, the theatre features the 575-seat Heath Ledger Theatre at the heart of the complex. Alongside this is a more flexible performance space, the 200-seat Studio Underground as well as generous rehearsal and backstage facilities. It also features The Courtyard – a multi-purpose outdoor space as well as public spaces, foyers and bars.

Built on a small site footprint, the performance spaces were designed to be stacked on top of one another to maximise space.
