A specialised new youth justice facility.

Cherry Creek Youth Justice Redevelopment Project

This new youth justice facility is an essential part of the Victorian Government’s commitment to improving community safety and modernising Victoria’s youth justice system.

The specialised facility has been designed with a focus on staff safety and reducing reoffending among young people aged 15 to 18 years with complex and challenging backgrounds.

Located west of Werribee in the vicinity of Cherry Creek, the new facility will include 140 beds, an intensive intervention unit, specialised health care unit, intensive alcohol and drug treatment unit, dedicated mental health beds, education, vocational skills, recreation and spiritual facilities.

The state-of-the-art facility will use the latest security and lighting technologies to protect the youth, staff and the community.

The design allows the facility to flexibly accommodate young males on long-term remand, undergoing sentence, or both, within distinct communities.
