Delivered on time and on budget, the nine-storey hospital brings 186 public beds, the Greater Springfield region’s first public emergency department and a full range of health services to support a community set to grow by 100,000 people over the next five years.
For Springfield residents, it’s exactly what the doctor ordered. It means they can now access emergency, maternity and paediatric care closer to home, without needing to travel to Brisbane or Ipswich.

The project was delivered in a live hospital environment, with the neighbouring Mater Private Hospital remaining open throughout construction. The team managed the delicate relocation of critical services and complex connections between existing and new buildings, ensuring work could progress safely without disrupting day-to-day hospital operations.
Mater Hospital Springfield is one of several major health projects John Holland is proud to be delivering for Queensland.
Following the delivery of Logan Hospital Expansion Stage 1 in 2024, our teams are currently on site at the Princess Alexandra Hospital expansion, Logan Hospital Expansion Stage 2 and the new Toowoomba Hospital.
Congratulations to the Mater team, our Queensland building team and everyone involved in delivering this important facility for the Springfield community.
