As GoldlinQ's Design and Construction contractor, John Holland delivered the 6.7 kilometre dual-track extension, including eight new stations and new light rail and bus interchanges at Burleigh Heads and Miami.
The works also included upgraded depot facilities, new signalised pedestrian crossings, enhanced walking and cycling connections and park upgrades along the corridor.
Stage 3 is a strong example of John Holland’s integrated transport capability in action. Delivered in a live traffic environment across one of the Gold Coast’s busiest urban precincts, the project required significant technical expertise across rail systems, civil works, station structures and urban infrastructure to deliver a transport link that will support the long-term growth of one of Australia’s fastest growing regions.
The extension grows the Gold Coast’s light rail network to 27km, making it easier for residents and visitors to move along the coast while reducing pressure on local roads.
