This transformative project will establish a permanent rail connection to the existing ARTC freight corridor and deliver critical infrastructure for the initial stage of the Beveridge Intermodal Freight Terminal. Works include:
- 1 km of new dual-carriage rail viaduct
- 6.5 km of new sidings across three rail roads
- 7 turnouts, 6 crossovers, and 2 catchpoints
- Formation and drainage works within rock foundation
- Signalling and yard operational infrastructure
Once complete, Stage 1 will provide Melbourne’s first terminal capable of receiving 1,800-metre double-stacked Inland Rail trains, delivering direct access to the Inland Rail south network. Combined with new Inland Rail infrastructure, the precinct will significantly reduce freight costs and strengthen Australia’s supply chain.
This announcement follows John Holland’s successful delivery of the Moorebank Intermodal Precinct in NSW last year for National Intermodal Corporation. Drawing on decades of rail infrastructure expertise, John Holland is proud to play a key role in shaping the future of freight in Australia.
