Joe Barr
Chief Executive Officer
Joe has had an outstanding career in the construction industry over the past 30-years, both domestically in Australia and internationally in the Asia Pacific and Middle Eastern regions. He was most recently the CEO of Hansen Yuncken.
He spent several years working in Dubai, where he was responsible for a range of development projects with a portfolio value of approximately US$27bn and annual turnover of around US$4bn.
Joe is passionate about fostering career pathways and providing opportunities for employees.
Darryn Ray
Chief Financial Officer
Darryn joined John Holland in 1994 after more than seven years with a major chartered accounting firm and has held the senior finance role in the Company since the early 2000’s. He was appointed Company Secretary in October 2003, became Chief Financial Officer in January 2006, and was appointed as a Director of the Company in November 2012. Darryn is also a Director and Company Secretary for most subsidiary Companies of the Group.
Darryn is responsible for all financial and management reporting, external and internal audits, taxation, treasury and investments, insurances, company secretarial and corporate governance & compliance. Darryn is a Member of the Chartered Accountants Australia and New Zealand, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Jayne Whitney
Chief Strategy Officer
Jayne Whitney is the Chief Strategy Officer, with an extensive executive career. She has been instrumental in the growth, development, and sustainability of some of Australia’s leading engineering firms, including John Holland, UGL, Tenix and AGL.
As the Chief Strategy Officer at John Holland, she is responsible for business leadership, long term strategy and business growth, digital transformation, business improvement and corporate affairs.
Working across the utilities and infrastructure sectors, she is experienced in business transformation, resetting strategy, mergers & acquisitions, and organisational culture.
Jayne is also a proud champion of gender diversity in the industry, working with like-minded organisations such as ACA and IPA, as well as within John Holland.
Jayne is also a Non Executive Director of the Australian Contractors Association (ACA), and on the Women’s Infrastructure Network (WIN) Steering Committee.
Martin Webster
Chief Commercial Officer
Martin brings more than 30 years’ international infrastructure and construction experience to John Holland. His vast experience and technical expertise has seen him negotiate and manage some of Asia’s largest infrastructure projects, including the world’s largest air cargo terminal and Hong Kong’s largest rail project.
Martin has a sharp commercial focus across tendering, contracts and project delivery and has relocated to Melbourne from Hong Kong to join the John Holland team.
Andrew English
Executive General Manager, Infrastructure
Andrew recently joined John Holland with over 30 years’ experience delivering international infrastructure and rail projects for Tier 1 companies.
Andrew was most recently Managing Director of Skanska Infrastructure, responsible for delivering a range of major metro, road, rail and utilities projects in the UK. He has a strong commitment to developing people, optimising profitability and constantly improving business performance. Andrew focuses on creating strong partnerships with customers, embedding world-class safety practices and integrating emerging technologies to deliver better outcomes for each project and the business.
Steve Butcher
Executive General Manager, Rail
Steve has over 35 years experience in the rail industry and is regarded as one of the most experienced global rail experts, having worked in the UK, Middle East, India, USA, Australia and Asia Pacific regions. Prior to joining John Holland, Steve was Managing Director Global Transport with Serco, where he was responsible for the operational and strategic aspects of its global transport business.
Steve is a highly experienced Board Director and has added significant value in oversight roles of major rail contracts, extensions and enhancement programs in both the heavy and light rail/metro operational areas, ensuring they drive customer satisfaction and are deliver commercially successful outcomes. Steve is experienced in both frontline rail operations as well as representing corporate interests, with a proven track record in motivating high performing teams and engendering a culture and discipline of achieving targeted outputs.
David Lehmann
Executive General Manager, Building
David is a highly skilled and dynamic business leader with over 20 years’ experience in the property and construction industry and strong credentials in strategy, operational excellence and large-scale project delivery.
David has worked in South East Asia and China, as well as various roles in the construction industry in Australia. This background makes him ideally placed to grow John Holland’s building business and ensure we leverage the growing portfolio of opportunities emerging from our Development & Investments Group.
Mark Davies
Executive General Manager, Major Projects
Mark has significant international infrastructure experience, with a strong track record in major projects. He will bring additional rigor to our active portfolio of megaprojects, improving customer and business outcomes.
Before joining John Holland he was the Managing Director of the Balfour Beatty Vinci JV in the UK, focused on High Speed Rail with specific accountability to lead the 90km multi-billion pound N1/N2 contract.
Prior to this, Mark was the Managing Director of Carillion’s infrastructure division, one of the UK’s largest infrastructure businesses with a turnover of £900m and 2,750 employees. Mark has worked across rail, civil engineering, highways and nuclear facilities. In his roles, Mark has focused on industry and business safety improvement as well as embedding a culture of engagement and leadership in action.
