Sydney’s newest premium office tower, 275 George, is complete, creating a new offering of Grade A office and retail space over 15 floors.
The boutique development, featuring 7,300 square metres of office and retail space is located moments from CBD transport interchanges and on the doorstep of George Street’s new Sydney Light Rail.
The building is one of few office buildings to enter the Sydney market this year, and with tenants undertaking fitout, will be opening its doors officially in early 2021.
The development was forward sold to Japan’s Daibiru Corporation in 2018.
John Holland Executive General Manager Development & Investment Tom Roche said the development set a new standard in boutique workplaces.
“275 George Street is a top-quality development, designed and built with the comfort of future occupants as the principal concern,” Mr Roche said.
“Located in the heart of the Sydney CBD, and with premium end of trip facilities, this is a new era of office space with smaller floorplates and is well-suited to emerging commercial requirements as businesses review their space-requirements post-COVID-19.”
The project was built by John Holland’s dedicated building team, using a majority of local subcontractors and suppliers to deliver the final product.
The building’s façade, comprises sandstone from NSW , while the building’s framing, steel and end of trip bike facilities were all procured from Australian companies.
General Manager NSW/ACT Building, Matthew Bourne, said the completion of the development was even more significant considering it was delivered during the onset of the COVID-19 pandemic.
“I am so proud of the integrated property and building team who have delivered John Holland’s first Grade A Sydney CBD workspace,” Mr Bourne said.
275 George was designed by leading Australian architecture and design firm Architectus and it has already achieved a 5 Star Green Star rating, with a 5 Star NABERS Energy rating targeted in due course.
Architectus Principal, Colin Odbert said: “Architectus is honoured to have been part of the design and delivery of 275 George, alongside our clients John Holland Group and the entire design team. It’s a fantastic project that’s making an important and thoughtful contribution to the Sydney CBD.”
Daibiru Corporation Director/ Managing Executive Officer Takehiko Ota said the practical completion is a major milestone for Daibiru’s overseas business.
“We are delighted to reach practical completion of our very first building in Sydney in our nearly one century’s history. This excellent corner boutique asset, located just a stone’s throw away from Wynyard Station, is without doubt a great choice for every tenant looking for a premium well-crafted space downtown with a mindful design against infectious diseases and trustworthy management services. We would like to express our profound appreciation to all the hard work and dedication of John Holland despite several challenges including bushfire smoke and especially the COVID-19 pandemic.”
