John Holland has been recognised for its commitment to inclusion and diversity by Australia’s peak LGBTQ community organisation.
ACON’s Pride in Diversity program has presented John Holland with the Achievement Award for Most Improved Employer, at the annual Australian LGBTQ Inclusion Awards.
The Award, based on the LGBTQ results of the Australian Workplace Equality Index (AWEI) acknowledges John Holland’s dedication to providing an inclusive workplace for people of diverse sexualities and genders.
Executive Sponsor of the John Holland Pride Network David Lehman welcomed the award as recognition of John Holland’s dedication to LGBTI+ inclusion, while acknowledging there is still work to be done.
“This industry hasn’t always been the most progressive – and that’s changing. At John Holland we pride ourselves on putting people at the heart of what we do, and creating an inclusive culture is a key part of that,” Mr Lehmann said.
“The award reflects the hard work and dedication of our employee-driven Pride Network and Committee members.
“As an Ally, it’s an honour to help support an inclusive and caring culture.
“No matter your sexuality, gender, race, religion, or if you are person with disability - you are treated equally in the John Holland community.”
John Holland site engineer and Pride Network Committee member Geoffrey Britto championed the work of John Holland, in fostering a supportive culture.
“It’s important that everyone can bring their full selves to work,” Mr Britto said
“John Holland’s commitment to LGBTI+ inclusion creates a more welcoming environment and encourages the LGBTI+ community to pursue a career in construction.”
