Chief Executive Officer
Joe has had an outstanding career in the construction industry over the past 30-years, both domestically in Australia and internationally in the Asia Pacific and Middle Eastern regions. He was most recently the CEO of Hansen Yuncken.
He spent several years working in Dubai, where he was responsible for a range of development projects with a portfolio value of approximately US$27bn and annual turnover of around US$4bn.
Joe is passionate about fostering career pathways and providing opportunities for employees.
Chief Operating Officer
Rod is an experienced senior executive leader with a strong track record in transformational leadership, strategic business development and building high-performing teams. As our Chief Operating Officer, Rod draws on more than 30 years’ experience at all levels of the construction industry to ensure our ongoing success in the winning and delivery of projects.
He has delivered many large and complex engineering and building projects throughout Australia and Asia, becoming renowned for his ability to work collaboratively with clients to achieve best-for-project outcomes.
Chief Financial Officer
Darryn joined John Holland in 1994 after more than seven years with a major chartered accounting firm. He was appointed Chief Financial Officer in 2006.
Darryn is responsible for all financial and management reporting, external and internal audits, taxation, treasury and investments, company secretarial and governance. Darryn is a Member of the Australian Institute of Chartered Accountants, the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants and the Australian Institute of Company Directors.
Chief Strategy Officer
Jayne leads the John Holland Strategy Team across business strategy and strategic growth. She also leads the Information and Communication Technology team, the Technology, Engineering and Knowledge team and the Sustainability Team, embedding sustainability leadership in John Holland and across our markets. She has worked in various executive roles within the construction industry over the past 20-years, and possesses strong credentials in strategy, business development, marketing, sustainability and governance.
An experienced leader, Jayne has a proven track record of driving change and delivering results in the energy, utilities and infrastructure markets.
Chief People Officer
Jane is a highly experienced people and business leader, with more than 25 years in the banking and finance, construction/infrastructure, energy, mining, technology and outsourcing sectors in Australia, New Zealand and the Asia-Pacific region.
Jane is no stranger to the complexities of securing and delivering large-scale projects, and has a successful track record leading the people elements of diverse and challenging transformation and cultural change programs.
Jane is passionate about making sure people are at the heart of everything we do. She leads the People Group, driving a high-performance, inclusive culture with a strong focus on our people and their safety.
Executive General Manager, Commercial
Martin brings more than 30 years’ international infrastructure and construction experience to John Holland. His vast experience and technical expertise has seen him negotiate and manage some of Asia’s largest infrastructure projects, including the world’s largest air cargo terminal and Hong Kong’s largest rail project.
Martin has a sharp commercial focus across tendering, contracts and project delivery and has relocated to Melbourne from Hong Kong to join the John Holland team.
Executive General Manager - Development & Investments
Tom is responsible for securing projects that will deliver both construction and investment opportunities across the infrastructure and real estate sectors, and also selective mergers and acquisitions that support our growth agenda.
Tom has an extensive background in the infrastructure, real estate and construction industries, and during his 30 year career has successfully led numerous large infrastructure and real estate transactions from origination and project leadership through to transaction structuring. Tom has been involved in significant PPP projects covering a variety of sectors including sporting and entertainment, convention and exhibition, health, transportation and defence, as well as real estate developments including office parks, industrial and mixed residential / retail / commercial and mergers and acquisitions and corporate advice.
Tom brings significant experience with his skills covering project and corporate finance; debt and equity structuring; project and asset backed bond issues; property development finance; equity capital markets; corporate advisory; and mergers and acquisitions.
Executive General Manager - Customer and Corporate Affairs
Larry is responsible for ensuring we meet the needs of our customers and works to position the company for future growth opportunities. Larry also manages the organisation's response to the major project pipeline.
Larry is an urban geographer by background, and his career has seen him work across the public and private sectors in transport and infrastructure, helping to deliver major projects and implement significant reform initiatives. Larry’s previous roles have included managing the transport division of a major infrastructure industry group, and working in senior roles in the New South Wales Government. Larry has previously helped bring to market and deliver major PPP projects like the Sydney Metro Northwest, has been involved in major organisational reform and implemented significant service delivery improvements. Larry has a strong interest in the future of our cities and is a Director on a number of boards, including the Committee for Sydney. In 2019, Larry was named an Australian Financial Review Young Executive of the Year.
Executive General Manager - Building
David is a highly skilled and dynamic business leader with over 20 years’ experience in the property and construction industry and strong credentials in strategy, operational excellence and large-scale project delivery.
David has worked in South East Asia and China, as well as various roles in the construction industry in Australia. This background makes him ideally placed to grow John Holland’s building business and ensure we leverage the growing portfolio of opportunities emerging from our Development & Investments Group.
Executive General Manager - Rail
Steve has over 35 years experience in the rail industry and is regarded as one of the most experienced global rail experts, having worked in the UK, Middle East, India, USA, Australia and Asia Pacific regions. Prior to joining John Holland, Steve was Managing Director Global Transport with Serco, where he was responsible for the operational and strategic aspects of its global transport business.
Steve is a highly experienced Board Director and has added significant value in oversight roles of major rail contracts, extensions and enhancement programs in both the heavy and light rail/metro operational areas, ensuring they drive customer satisfaction and are deliver commercially successful outcomes. Steve is experienced in both frontline rail operations as well as representing corporate interests, with a proven track record in motivating high performing teams and engendering a culture and discipline of achieving targeted outputs.
Interim Executive General Manager, NSW/ACT
Tony has more than 30 years’ experience leading strategy, business development, project delivery and commercial management across a range of sectors including roads, building, energy, tunnels, telecommunications, and manufacturing.
Tony has held senior and executive leadership roles with a number of organisations including Habtoor Leighton Group, Downer EDI and Transfield Holdings, as well as managing his own advisory services business. Throughout his extensive career, Tony has overseen the successful growth of businesses and delivery of projects in Australia, South East Asia and the Middle East.
Executive General Manager, VIC/SA/TAS Infrastructure
With more than 20 years’ experience delivering road, rail, aviation, water and mining projects, Struan has a wealth of leadership expertise and a strong focus on customer, stakeholder and employee engagement.
Struan believes in ethical leadership, open communication and fostering a customer-focused, collaborative culture that empowers people to develop and thrive. He advocates excellence in safety, quality, environmental management and sustainability to deliver outstanding results and drive repeat business with our customers.
A progressive leader, Struan is passionate about collaboration, innovation and accountability.
Struan has a significant track record promoting Indigenous employment and social procurement and actively champions diversity and inclusion across the construction industry.
Executive General Manager, QLD/NT & NZ Infrastructure
Rob is an engineering and construction professional with an extensive track-record of operational leadership, strategy and commercial management in the roads, water, power, aviation, oil & gas and social infrastructure sectors. He has 25 years of experience working in large-scale construction and engineering environments and has held key leadership roles in the Australian and New Zealand infrastructure markets. He has a deep understanding of delivering major projects and an ability to control risks to deliver successful results.
Rob has a strong interest in collaborative contracting and developing strong team cultures, having spent much of his career working in project alliances. He is passionate about the sustainable growth of the John Holland business across Queensland, the Northern Territory and New Zealand in both the public infrastructure and resources sectors. He is a chartered civil engineer in Australia and the UK and a Registered Professional Engineer of Queensland.
Hee Wee Tan
General Manager, South East Asia
Hee Wee is a leader in the building and construction industry in Singapore. He joined John Holland in 2019 after leading the Singapore arm of Gammon, a key industry player. A chartered professional engineer, Hee Wee has extensive experience managing mega and complex projects across South East Asia in both the public and private sector, spanning across civil, rail and building disciplines.
Executive General Manager, Strategic Projects
Trevor has 25 years experience leading projects and businesses across a wide range of disciplines and geographies in Australia, including the role of Project Director on the $3B Clem7 tunnel in Brisbane.
Trevor has a passion for leading with a strong strategic focus and delivering outcomes that improve the lives of those in the team.
Executive General Manager, Special Projects
With almost 30 years in the construction industry, Lindsay brings significant project and management experience to our business.
Lindsay joined John Holland in 2011 as Manager - General Building. In this senior operational role, he provided strategic support to Project Managers and oversaw multiple building and upgrade projects throughout Western Australia.
Defining features of Lindsay’s leadership style include his ability to create high performing team and project cultures. He believes accountability, integrity and developing strong relationships with customers and other project stakeholders are critical to the successful delivery of projects.
