WestConnex New M4 Tunnels

John Holland broke ground on Sydney’s WestConnex New M4 Tunnels in 2016, and they opened to traffic in July 2019.

The twin 5.5km tunnels are the first underground section of one of Australia’s largest road infrastructure projects, allowing motorists to skip 22 traffic lights on Parramatta Road and save up to 20 minutes of travel time in each direction. This complex project will take up to 10,000 trucks off Parramatta Road each day, and ensures a safer, more reliable journey through Sydney for motorists.

The project created more than 4,000 direct and indirect jobs and allowed about 190 apprentices and trainees to get a start in the construction industry.
