John Holland is proud to be affiliated with the following relevant national bodies and industry groups.
The Alliancing Association of Australasia (AAA) was formally established in January 2006 as an incorporated entity resulting from the amalgamation of two interest-related groups that have developed since 2004 in Australia:
- Alliance Industries Association (AIA) focused on project and service-based alliances,
- Association of Strategic Alliance Professionals of Australasia (ASAPA) concerned with strategic alliances.
AAA was formed to serve organizations and their professionals involved in both project, service and strategic alliancing in Australia and New Zealand (ANZ) reflecting the specific opportunities, challenges and particularities of the region.
AAA is focused on providing a forum for those individuals and organizations who are or want to have involvement in alliances so they can leverage a pool of knowledge to assist them to:
- Strengthening their alliancing competencies,
- Developing the alliance formation and delivery capabilities of their business.
AAA conducts an annual conference, organizes monthly networking events, and offers bi-monthly workshops. The association exists in recognition of the shift in the pattern by which Australian and New Zealand organisations increasingly employ alliances to improve their outcomes and strengthen their competitive position.
In September 2009, John Holland became a Gold partner of Engineers Without Borders (EWB). This partnership gives John Holland employees the opportunity to provide their skills and knowledge to developing communities in Australia and overseas.
EWB focuses on developing the capacity of the local technical sector through small scale, grassroots engineering to ensure that innovative, appropriate and sustainable solutions to issues that impede development are locally generated and driven. EWB provides assistance in providing developing communities access to drinking water, sanitation, energy, basic infrastructure, communications and engineering education.
Launched in 2002, the GBCA is a national, not-for-profit organisation that is committed to developing a sustainable property industry for Australia by encouraging the adoption of green building practices. It is uniquely supported by both industry and governments across the country.
Mission The Green Building Council's mission is to develop a sustainable property industry for Australia and drive the adoption of green building practices through market-based solutions.
Objectives Its key objectives are to drive the transition of the Australian property industry towards sustainability by promoting green building programs, technologies, design practices and operations as well as the integration of green building initiatives into mainstream design, construction and operation of buildings.
The Cooperative Research Centre (CRC) for Construction Innovation is a national research, development and implementation centre focused on the needs of the property, design, construction and facility management sectors.
Established in 2001 and headquartered at Queensland University of Technology as an unincorporated joint venture under the Australian Government's Cooperative Research Program, Construction Innovation is developing key technologies, tools and management systems to improve the effectiveness of the construction industry.
Underpinning Construction Innovation is the most significant commitment ever made to construction research in Australia a seven year $14M Commonwealth grant and $53M in industry, research and other government funding. More than 350 individuals are participating and an impressive alliance of 27 leading partner organisations are involved in and support the activities of Construction Innovation.
The West Australian Symphony Orchestra is Western Australia’s largest and busiest performing arts company. It plays a central role in the heart of musical life in Western Australia, performing over 170 concerts each year with some of the world’s most illustrious conductors and soloists to audiences in excess of 180 000.
The WASO has 85 full-time musicians performing at a number of venues including the Perth Concert Hall, Art Gallery of Western Australia, Lake Karrinyup Country Club and Kings Park and Botanic Gardens.
In addition to its own classical concerts, the WASO performs with the West Australian Opera, West Australian Ballet, with the Perth International Arts Festival, and in collaboration with a number of local performing arts companies including TURA New Music for the annual Totally Huge New Music Festival.
The West Australian Symphony Orchestra has an innovative approach to music programming, performing both artistically vibrant classical music as well as original contemporary music. Through its Summer and Contempo Series, the WASO regularly joins forces with international and Australian pop musicians to create concerts that fuse popular contemporary artists with classical music.
In 2007 John Holland announced its sponsorship of Victorian Opera as both a Major Partner and Principal Sponsor of the Emerging Artists Program.
In 2004, the Victorian Government commissioned a review of opera in Victoria. This resulted in the Government supporting a new opera venture, with funding of $7.6 million over four years, beginning in the 2005/06 financial year.
In August 2005 the Minister for the Arts announced the formation of an independent company, which was incorporated in October 2005 and commenced operations in January 2006.
Victorian Opera's vision and mission is:
"To bring professional opera of the highest possible standard to audiences in Melbourne and regional Victoria."
Victorian Opera aspires to be distinctive, differentiating itself from other professional companies on a number of dimensions:
Innovation; this means not only unfamiliar or new repertoire but also, for example, productions of standard repertoire in a variety of different venues,
Accessibility; this will be achieved through new repertoire, by different approaches to opera and through regional touring and education,
Affordability; to reach a wide audience, it will be necessary to provide a range of affordable ticket prices,
Collaboration; Victorian Opera will actively seek to work with other organisations (both professional performing arts companies and performing arts training institutions) in order to cross-fertilise ideas, make available funds go further, access new audiences and provide educational opportunities.
WaterAid enables the world’s poorest people to gain access to safe water, sanitation and hygiene education. These basic human rights underpin health, education and livelihoods and form the first, essential step in overcoming poverty.
We work with local partners, who understand local issues, and provide them with the skills and support to help communities set up and manage practical and sustainable projects that meet their real needs.
We also campaign locally and internationally to change policy and practice and ensure water and sanitation’s vital role in reducing poverty is recognised.
Greenfleet exists to make a difference, not a profit. We encourage organisations and individuals to reduce the greenhouse gases they produce and then offset their remaining emissions by planting native forests.
The forests we plant do more than take carbon from the atmosphere. We plant a wide variety of native trees in permanent forests that help to reduce salinity and soil erosion and provide essential habitat for native wildlife.
Every year, from Perth to Penrith, hundreds of thousands of Australians get stuck in and clean up their local environment by collecting and removing rubbish on Clean Up Australia Day.

Ian Kiernan's vision is an apolitical, non-profit community campaign in which everyone can participate.
The Property Council of Australia represents almost 2,200 property stakeholders nationwide who hold around $350 billion dollars worth of assets. The Property Council of Australia is the peak industry body, representing those affiliated with property and commercial development interests.
In 2009 our relationships with state and local governments are strong and effective, ensuring their voice is heard, and, in turn their members are represented.
The strength of the Property Council is reliant on its members’ commitment, sponsors’ support and committee activities. In total, the Property Council has 16 committees with over 150 volunteers that assist us in delivering beneficial policy outcomes for the industry.
The Property Council of Australia realises it can only maintain its position if it continues to add value to the industry by providing positive outcomes to issues that benefit the property industry as a whole. The Property Council aims to achieve its goals by:
Influence - to become more politically influential in order to improve the returns from property investments, the productivity of property assets, and the business opportunities available to members;
Business ally - to offer a unique set of services that can be customised and delivered directly to individual members to help them add value to their own business activities; and
Growth - to create a platform for financial growth that will fund the Property Council's advocacy agenda, and service an expanded member base.
