Janet L. Holmes ŕ Court, AC
Chairman

Janet has been Chairman of John Holland Group since 1991. Janet is Chairman of Heytesbury Pty Ltd and its controlled entities which include Heytesbury Beef, Heytesbury Thoroughbreds, The Holmes ŕ Court Collection and Vasse Felix.  She is also Chairman of the West Australian Symphony Orchestra, the Australian Children's Television Foundation and the Urban Design Centre of WA.  She is a Commissioner of Tourism Western Australia, a Board Director of Vision 2020 Australia, a Governor of Sony Foundation Australia and Board Member of the Rio Tinto WA Future Fund. 

Attending the University of Western Australia majoring in organic chemistry, Janet also maintains a strong interest in medical research and the arts.

 


Glenn Palin
Managing Director, John Holland Group


Glenn Palin is the Managing Director of John Holland Group Pty Ltd, one of Australia’s leading and most diversified contracting, engineering and services companies.  In this role, Glenn is responsible for all construction and services operations of the Group, totalling in excess of $3.7 bn annually.  

One of John Holland’s strengths lies in its diversity of operations, which not only undertakes the full range of building and civil engineering construction through a regional structure, but also operates a number of specialist engineering based businesses via a national structure.  These National Businesses cover such diverse markets as Water, Tunnelling, Structural Engineering, Energy and Resources, Power Generation & Distribution, Rail, Communications, Mining and Aviation Services.  

Glenn has more than 30 years of experience in the Construction Industry, of which 16 years have been in the employ of John Holland.  During this time, Glenn has held various roles within the organisation including most recently Chief Operating Officer, Executive General Manager, Specialist Businesses and General Manager, Northern Region.  

Glenn has played a major role in the development of the Company’s People Development programmes with a particular focus on the career development of younger employees as well as being a key player in developing and driving the company’s 4P culture of People, Performance, Partnerships and Profit.   Glenn holds a Bachelor of Applied Science in the Built Environment (QIT), a Graduate Diploma in Building, a Graduate Diploma in Applied Finance and Investment and has recently completed the prestigious Executive Development Program at Stanford University in the USA.  


Wal M King AO
Deputy Chairman 

Wal is the Chief Executive Officer of Leighton Holdings Limited and a Director of various Leighton Holdings Group companies. Wal is a Director of Coca-Cola Amatil Limited; a Director of the UNSW Foundation Limited and a Member of the Council of The University of NSW. He participates in construction industry affairs and is the President of the Australian Constructors Association. He is a Member of the Business Council of Australia; an Honorary Fellow of the Institute of Engineers; and a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, the Australian Institute of Management, the Australian Institute of Building and the Academy of Technological Sciences and Engineering. He is also a Member of the American Society of Civil Engineers and a Founding Councillor of the Australia Business Arts Foundation.


David G Stewart
Director, John Holland Group

A graduate of Sydney University, David joined John Holland in 2000.  David has over 25 years experience in contracting in Australia and overseas and originally joined the Leighton Group Companies in 1986. David has held various senior engineering positions including General Manager Thiess International responsible for South East Asia and South America and General Manager Indonesian Operations.

David has also managed operations and worked on a range of contracts throughout Australia and the Philippines, predominantly in the civil, building and mining sectors.  In 2005, David became an Executive Member of the John Holland Group Board. In January 2006, David became the Group Managing Director of the John Holland Group.

 


Ian R Johnson
Non-Executive Director

Ian is a Director of Argo Investments Limited.  He is a former Director of Leighton Holdings Ltd and Group Executive of CRA Limited.


Nick W Stump
Non-Executive Director

Nick is a Chairman of GroundProbe Pty Ltd.  He is a member of the Senate of the University of Queensland and Chairman of the Sustainable Minerals Institute.  He was formerly Chief Executive of MIM Holdings Ltd.


 

Hans J Ohff
non-executive director

Hans is a Fellow of the Institution of Engineers in Australia, Chairman of the South Australian Lotteries Commission, and Chairman of the Safety and Quality Council for Public Health in South Australia. He was the Managing Director and CEO of the Australian Submarine Corporation Pty Ltd, and Chairman of ASC-Engineering Pty Ltd, until 2002.  From 1978 to 1992 Hans was Managing Director and CEO of Eglo Engineering  (Services) Ltd.


William (Bill) F Bloking
Non-Executive Director

Bill is Chairman of Norwest Energy NL, Cool Energy Limited, Asia Biofuels Inc, and Cullen Wines (Australia) Pty Ltd, and he is a director of KAL Energy Inc, Delta Pacific Mining Plc, the Lions Eye Institute, and the West Australian Symphony Orchestra.  He is also a Fellow of the Australian Institute of Company Directors, a Governor of the American Chamber of Commerce in Australia, Vice Chairman of the Australia China Business Council, a member of the Advisory Board of the University of Western Australia’s Confucius Centre, and an Adjunct Professor at Murdoch University.
